Boutique Retail Design Toronto
Last month we were commissioned by local clothing company KOTN to design and build out their pop up store at RALLY on Ossington. We had several weeks to develop a concept to showcase their clothing and other wares (and build it out), so we dove right in. KOTN had some of their own ideas and we worked with those to create a retail environment that really communicated their brand and identity. They have been very trusting of us - which has made the process a lot of fun.
One of the things they identified with in our collection was the ebonized Ash and the two tone design elements. We started with an all black Dining Table 001 in the center of the room and designed everything off of that. The experience has been quite smooth due to the fact that our companies share a lot in common.
Once our original pieces were approved, we got right to work and our fabulous craftsmen and women have been busy materializing the vision. Although a lot of our efforts are spent designing and building household furniture, we have been fortunate enough to work on some retail design projects in Toronto and they really excite us.
We ended up with a custom cash desk (picture below of it mid-production), custom clothes racks and two different types of shelving and storage units. They also will be using our floor mirror for the change room. It has been really exciting working on the retail design. I believe strongly in the retail environment and its impact on consumers so it will be really exciting to see how everything comes together in a couple of weeks.
The upcoming store is gaining momentum and was just featured in Wallpaper magazine. If you want to see our designs and their wonderful clothing, stay tuned for updates about the location and dates. We will do another post to show our work in their store once it is all setup.
