So what is this Montessori all about? Well the American Montessori Method describes it as an academic system that "fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development—cognitive, emotional, social, and physical."

Our Bookshelf Small quickly became a hit amongst new parents of toddlers and kids that were looking for something stylish, well built and modern. For starters, this shelving unit is made entirely with solid White Ash. You won't find veneer, mdf or particle board anywhere. Using this wood species for our montessori shelving units is ideal because its going extinct due to the Ash borer beatle. This means either it dies and or is cut down for firewood or is crafted into beatiful furniture like these shelving units for kids.

After hand turning the legs and machining the solid wood, we use a secret joinery method to make these extra durable. The shelving units are glued up in our factory and ship out fully assembled and ready to use right out of the box! No knock down pieces and fastners to mess around with.

How do I know which Montessori shelf to purchase?

Well that is likely a personal preference. There are a lot of variables but you will want to go with something that is well made, has safe ingredients for your toddler and is well designed.
